Update from the Associate Pastor Search Committee

09Apr

Dear Church Family,

The Associate Pastor Search Committee (APSC) expresses our gratitude for those members who took a moment to complete the survey in February. We are thankful for a glimpse into your hearts and we know you will be very excited about the man God has for DABC. We are continuing to make prayerful progress in the search efforts. We are actively receiving resumes and referrals through March 17th. We encourage you to visit our church website (https://dabconline.org/associate-pastor-search/ ) and share it with your contacts.

The Committee will represent our church as we seek God’s will. The search committee will be in constant prayer as we seek Gods’ will for Denman Ave. Baptist Church. Hebrews 4:12 says that “God's Word is alive and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword”. We ask that our Church Family unite with the committee in prayer through scripture. 1John 5:14 says that “…if we ask anything in accordance with His will, He hears us”.

1. Pray that the committee will have no timetable but God’s. Psalm 27:14 - Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage... Psalm 37:7 – Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him.

2. Pray for unity and oneness of spirit within the committee. Romans 15:5-6 - May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:1-2 - complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind

3. Pray that committee members conduct their roles with discernment, wisdom and strength. Ask God to give the committee the wisdom to know what to do and the courage to follow through. Psalm 29:11 - The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. Proverbs 9:10 – Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

4. Pray for a Gods protection over the committee and their families. Pray for the prevention of satan’s influence in misleading or rushing the search process. Matthew 6:13 - And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. 1 Peter 5:8-9 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

5. Pray for the man that God has chosen. Pray that he may receive peace and knowledge of Gods calling in his ministry. 1John 2:5-6 But whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected.

Please reach out to any of the Committee members should you have any questions and we covet your prayers.

Blessings,

Associate Pastor Search Committee
